     Title: US may become the country with the highest Spanish speaker population

Carmen Caffarell, director of  “Instituto Cervantes”.



Some days ago, director of “Instituto Cervantes”, Carmen Caffarell, presented La  Enciclopedia del Español en Estados Unidos in Washington DC in an act organized by the Congress Library. US has become the second country in the world by number of Spanish speakers with 44 million people. Caffarell also stated that the forecast for 2050 is of 132 million speakers, which may become the US in the country with he highest number of Spanish speakers. She also commented  US was a great example of how two different languages can co-exist at the same nation.

So, if you are planning to study Spanish, the sooner the better!
