The "Certificado Inicial de Español" proves candidates have sufficient knowledge of the language to handle situations which require an elementary use of the language. The exam to obtain this Diploma is composed of the following parts:

Part 1: Reading Comprehension
(40 minutes)
Two kind of exercises:
a. Candidates will have to answer several multiple choice questions based on texts.
b. Questions to get information from a text.

Prueba 2: Written paper
(50 minutes)
Write simple and practical texts such as notes, notices, postcards, etc.

Prueba 3: Listening Comprehension
(30 minutes)
Answer questions on a simple conversation or recorded information.

Prueba 4: Grammar and vocabulary
(40 minutes)
Three kind of exercises:
a. Relate several sentences to the corresponding situations.
b. Find the words or expressions which are not appropiate in the context.
c. Text completion from a multiple choice.

Prueba 5: Oral exam
(10 minutes)
Talk with the examiners about a picture or photograph for ten minutes.
