Superior level C2

The DELE C2 exam is for a diploma equivalent to the level of Mastery (C2), the sixth of six levels within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the Council of Europe.

The DELE C2 exam certifies the linguistic competence necessary to efficiently handle any situation. Those taking the exam must demonstrate the ability to spontaneously adapt to any context with a high level of precision. They must also demonstrate a strong command of subtle nuances that makes for natural fluency in all their interactions.

The DELE C2 exam consists of three tests:

Test 1: Use of the language, reading and listening comprehension
(105 minutes).
This test is made up of 6 written response and objective qualification tasks (multiple choice or selection): 3 reading comprehension tasks (45 min.) and 3 listening comprehension tasks (45 min.)

Test 2: Integrated skills: listening and reading comprehension, and written expression and interaction
(150 minutes).
This test is made up of 3 writing and subjective qualification tasks. In the 1st task, the candidate must develop a text (450-500 words) based on information received from the oral text (5 min., 2 listenings) and various written texts (1,000 words total); in the 2nd task, the candidate must transform a text (200 words) making it coherent, correcting errors, adding punctuation, etc.; in the 3rd task the candidate must write a text (200 words) prompted by an image or graphical information that is provided.

Test 3: Integrated skills: reading comprehension, and oral expression and interaction
(20 minutes with 30 minutes for preparation).
This test is made up of 3 tasks in which the candidate will have to first create a monologue (6-8 min.) based on various texts (800 words) and images or graphs about a specific topic: in the second task the candidate will maintain a formal dialogue with an interviewer expanding on and discussing previously presented information. Finally, in the third task, the candidate will carry an informal conversation about a topic given based on 3 or 4 news headlines.

IMPORTANT: In the written expression test, the test instructions on format and number of words to be used must be strictly followed.
